Raw kicks off with General Manager Vicki coming down to the ring. Again with every ‘Excuse Me!’ she says, the louder the boos. She then addresses to the crowd about last week and the says that she has given Chris Jericho the night off so he can prepare for his match this coming Sunday at SummerSlam. But she has other plans for Randy Orton and since he’s ‘RKO-Happy’ that she was pitting him in a match against Wade Barrett tonight. Orton then comes out to a loud cheer. He then gets into Vicki’s face and told her that no one, not even her was going to get in his way from getting his title. A ref then comes into the ring and preparing for the next match. As Vicki was getting out of the ring, Orton turned her around, made like he was going to RKO her, but instead tricked her out and RKO’d the ref instead. The crowd went wild as she started screaming her way to the back.
After the break, Vicki was seen in her office shaking. Ted DiDiase then came in and asked Vicki if she was alright. When she told him about what Orton almost did, he became fumed but then told her that even Orton would RKO a woman like her because he would know the consequences. That alone made Vicki feel much better.
Ryder & Hawkins vs. Archer & Croft (#1 Contenders Match for the Raw Tag Titles)
As the two teams began to enter the ring, Carlito and Primo then popped up on the screen and told the two teams that whoever wins will have to face them. Then The Hart Dynasty pops up on a split screen and tells them the same. Ryder & Hawkins was then ambushed by Archer & Croft. The two teams did their share of some high flying moves and near pinfalls that the crowd was really getting into. At the end of the match, we see Archer & Croft outside of the ring with Ryder slingshot Hawkins out the ring and onto the other two. As Ryder was in the ring, he was then attacked by these two new wrestlers with a female wrestlers. Hawkins, Archer and Croft came in but were attacked and beaten as well. As they were laid out on the mat, the three wrestlers then went to the top ropes and did a body splash on Hawkins, Archer and Croft. One of them then took the mic and introduced themselves as The Usos. Consisted of Jimmy, Jay and Tamila (sons of Rikishi and daughter of ‘Superfly’ Jimmy Snuka). They then made a statement to all tag teams that they are gunning for the tag titles real soon and that no one is safe. The match ends as a no-contest with The Usos leaving the ring.
Back in the locker room, Josh Matthews goes to interview The Colons and asked what were their thoughts on The Usos statement. They both gave their answer frustrated and in Spanish as they leave to head to the ring for the next match.
Primo Colon vs. Tyson Kidd
As they both enter the ring, so did The Hart Dynasty in whole. The sounds with both high flyers going at it. The action is fast pace as the ref tries to focus on both the match and the distracting outside as well. During the match, Carlito tries to interfere, but pays for it with a running clothesline from David Hart Smith. At the end of the match as Tyson was going to his flying clothesline, Carlito pushed his foot off the top, knocking Tyson to the floor. As the ref was arguing with Carlito, Smith ran in, did his running power slam on Primo, threw Kidd on him and ran out. The ref saw it and counted 1…2…3. The winner is Tyson Kidd. They quickly got out and walked away with Carlito getting frustrated.
They now show a video footage of how Miz and Morrison used to be the tag champs, did The Dirt Sheet and how they became enemies, with the match tonight being the swan song to their feud.
Round Two of the Intercontinental Title: John Morrison vs. The Miz
As they were in the ring, they were sizing each other down. Then the bell rung as the two began to brawl. All the frustration leading up to this match up, with the addition frustration being that the winner will go onto the final so they each had to give it their all in which they did. Near the end of the match, The Miz had put Morrison in the sleeper hold. Morrison then backed Miz up to the turnbuckle, but then knocked the ref in the ring as well. The Miz then did his ‘Skull Crushing Finale’ finisher on him and made the pin. The ref was still out of it. Then The Masked Superstar came into the ring with a chair. The Miz then order The Masked One to bash Morrison in the head so he can win, but instead turned around and bashed Miz insead. He then took off his mask to reveal himself as Daniel Bryan, his old NXT rookie. With that said, Morrison went for the Starship Pain. The ref finally came to and went back in to count 1…2…3. The winner and advancing to the final, John Morrison. As Morrison left, Bryan came back in to give a bloodied Miz two more chair shots before he left. Leaving Miz knocked out cold in the ring.
Back from the break, they show a re-cap of what just happened in the ring with Bryan and Miz. Matthews then interviews Bryan and asks him why did he help him before only to turn on him. Bryan told him that it was all planned, to get into his mind thinking that he was going to be his lil’ helper. But now he tells him that The Miz is in for a rude awakening. Matthews then gets pulled over by David Otunga, who was upset about not getting interview not once for his win to the finals weeks ago and tells him that he is an A-Lister and needs to get more attention and that if he and others doesn’t get it that once he wins the European title on Sunday that everyone else will get it.
In the ring we find Jack Swagger just taunting the fans of how much of a great American he is and how he would lay his life on the line for this country and then goes to bad mouth Cena some more. Cena then pops up on the screen and tells everyone that he’s shooting a movie and that he wasn’t there tonight and told Swagger that if he is such an American to put his money where his mouth is and fight him next week. Swagger then tells him to forget it and that Cena was a waste of his time. Cena then tells him that he is a joke and a phony. Swagger then gets irate and agrees to the match.
Round Two of the Woman’s Title: Melina vs. Natalia
Michael Cole and The King plugs in on how this will probably one of the best woman’s matches they are going to see and the two women didn’t disappoint as the bell rang. They gave the fans what they wanted, a great woman’s match that hasn’t been seen in years as the two went at it back and forth. In the end, it was Natalia who applied the Sharpshooter and Melina couldn’t help but to submit. The winner and going to the final on Sunday to face Beth Phoenix is Natalia.
Jericho is in the back giving Barrett a pep talk before his match with Orton tonight. Orton is now shown coming towards the ring for his introduction.
The Main Event: Randy Orton vs. Wade Barrett
As the two enter the ring, Jericho comes down as well to sit with Cole and King to commentate. The match begins with both men going toe to toe. Barrett has the slight edge and does a couple of moves that Jericho claims he had taught him. Barrett is looking good minutes into the match but Orton comes back with his own moves. At the end when Barrett was going to do his move, Orton revered it and hit the RKO on Barrett. 1…2…Jericho then pulls the ref out of the ring. Orton sees it and chases Jericho out of the ring. He then turns his attention to Barrett. He runs back and clotheslines Barrett out of the ring. He then throws him onto the announcing table. Jericho looks on as he sees Orton giving Barrett the RKO on top of the table. The match is now a no-contest. Orton gets into the ring and celebrates as he stares down Jericho ending the last Raw before SummerSlam.
