Smackdown begins with a brawl, literally as the cameras switch to backstage where Shad and JTG are going at it. Chairs are thrown, garbage cans are thrown. Anything they can get their hands on. Refs and other wrestlers are trying to get the two apart but they just break away from everyone to go at each other again.
Round One of the United States Title: JTG vs. Findlay
Findlay is already in the ring when all of the sudden Teddy Long makes his way to the ring. He apologizes to the crowd for what had just gone down and sadly announces that there will be no Round One match. So out of forfeit, Findlay wins the match. Findlay is excited as he dances around the ring.
Round One of the Diva’s Title: Layla vs. Maryse
Teddy decides to stick around for this match up as he is more interested in seeing Layla up close and personal. Layla blows a kiss at Teddy but was attacked by Maryse. Layla tries her best to upstage her but Maryse hits her Big Kick finisher to pin Layla and move on to Round Two next week. As Maryse leaves, Teddy rushes into the ring to see if Layla was alright. He then gives her the special treatment as he had a ref bring a wheelchair out for her to roll her to the back.
Backstage, Smackdown has a new announcer and it’s….Santino. He shows off his new shirt which says in the front ‘Smackdown’s #2 Draft Pick’ and now on the back ‘And #1 Announcer’. He then interviews Rey Mysterio, who was said to be fighting Sheamus (which Santino called him Meeker from The Muppets instead). Rey talks briefly about his match tonight and then goes into how well his training with Evan Bourne is going and wishes him luck on his interview tonight on the returning ‘Peep Show’ with Christian.
Round Two for the United States Title: Kofi Kingston vs. Drew McIntyre
Round One is now over as Round Two finally begins with Kofi entering the ring. Drew then enters as well to start the match. The crowd is amazed at how well these two perform together putting up the best that they can to make it to the next round. In the end, as Kofi missed the Trouble in Paradise, Drew hits his finisher for the win as he advances to the finals in a very hard fought clean match.
In the back, the Straight Edge Society is in the back as CM Punk prepares for his match coming up next.
M.V.P. vs. C.M. Punk
As both men are in the ring, the ref signaled for the rest of the SES to leave the ring. CM Punk then argued with the ref, giving MVP enough time to go after him with some of his moves. After ten minutes of back and forth, near pin falls action, MVP finally sets Punk for the Playmaker finisher, but was distracted by a returning Luke Gallows. As the ref turns his attention to Gallows, Punk goes for the GTS. But is reverse and MVP connects with the Playmaker. 1…2…3. The winner is MVP, but Gallows enters the ring and attacks him. This brings out MVP’s partner, Mark Henry and the two chased out the SES.
Teddy Long is in the back checking on Layla to see if she was alright. She was so happy that she had even given Teddy a kiss on the cheek and whispered something into his ear which made him do a dance.
Round Two of the Diva’s Title: Eve vs. Serena
The announcer then says that if any of the SES even steps foot out here that Serena will automatically lose the bout. So as the bell rang, Serena goes wild on Eve. But Eve takes care of the loose cannon by applying a few submission moves. But as she was about to pull off her finisher, Serena quickly reverses it and gives her the GTS finisher. 1…2…3. The winner and advancing to the finals is Serena. So the SES are one for one tonight.
Christian is in the back letting the backstage crew know that the Peep Show was returning tonight. He then bumps into Edge. He wishes Christian good luck on being the number two talk show on Smackdown. Christian just laughs it off and walks away.
After the break, we now find Christian in the ring greeting the fans and thanking them for being a part of the retuning Peep Show. He brings out his guest which is none other than…Evan Bourne. Christian hypes the match between him and Justin Gabriel the 180 vs Air-Bourne and how this would probably be one of the best matches to watch at SummerSlam. He asks him how excited it was for him to have Rey Mysterio as a mentor. Before Evan could answer that, two uninvited guest makes their way into the ring. Justin Gabriel and Heath Slater. Heath approached him and told him that Justin doesn’t need a mentor to train him because he can do it all by himself. Justin told him how back where he lived at overseas that he was trained by the best, has beaten the best and that at SummerSlam it won’t be no different. Heath then hypes up Justin again. Bourne then tells Heath if he’s talking all this trash, then why not have a match with him next week as a warm up. Heath accepts as the two walk away, leaving Christian shaking hands with Evan.
During the break, we see Heath and Justin bumping into Rey Mysterio. They back off from him immediately as Rey makes his way towards to entrance as his music hit.
Main Event: Rey Mysterio vs. Sheamus
He comes out to the loudest pop of the night as Sheamus comes out to the loudest boos of the night. As the bell sounds, Sheamus immediately goes after Rey but Rey is too fast for him as he does a couple of hit-and-runs. Sheamus finally catches him with a clothesline. Throughout the match, Sheamus is dominate up until Rey gets a second wind and finally takes it to Sheamus. He hits the 619 and tries for the West Coast Pop finisher but Sheamus catches him with the bicycle kick. As he goes for the Celtic Cross finisher, the lights go out. When they come back on, Edge is in the ring and he goes for the Spear. He tries to go to Sheamus but instead connects it with Rey. The lights go out again and when they come back on, the Undertaker is in the ring as he takes both Sheamus and Edge and Choke Slam. Afterwards, Teddy Long comes out and announces to the crowd and to the wrestlers that due to the exciting ending, Smackdown is going to have an exciting main event next week. It will be Edge teaming up with Sheamus vs. Rey Mysterio and The Undertaker. The crowd goes crazy as the show ends with all four superstars staring at each other.
